On November 19, President Obama hosted more than 125 school leaders and educators from across the nation at the White House for the ConnectED to the Future event.
At the event, the President launched his Administrations effort to assist school leaders in their transition to digital learning as part of his plan to connect 99 percent of Americas students to high-speed broadband internet in their schools and libraries. The President encouraged district leaders to take the Future Ready District Pledge to transition their schools to high-speed connectivity, to provide their learners with greater access to high-quality digital devices and content, and to provide teachers and principals with the support needed to use technology in innovative ways.

The Future Ready Schools Initiative is led by the Alliance for Excellent Education and the U.S. Department of Education with support from the Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) Commission. The initiative is a bold new effort to maximize digital learning opportunities and help school districts move quickly toward preparing students for success in college, a career, and citizenship. The Alliance invited Schoolwires, Inc. to design, develop, and host the Future Ready Schools website where all district leaders nationwide are being invited to pledge their commitment to work with educators, families, and community members to make all of their schools Future Ready. The site is also the resource hub to encourage and support district leaders as they transition their districts to personalized, digital learning. As of November 21, over 1,200 superintendents had taken the pledge.
